In 2013 we launched "My India Addiction Free India" campaign which was inaugurated by the Ex-President of India,Smt. Pratibhatai Patil. This program is running successfully in more than 19 states of India.

Soon we realized that if we want to make India addiction free then we have to begin with focus on tobacco. So under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Mehta who is one of the senior most cancer surgeon in India, we launched "Global Initiative of Tobacco Awareness" in Mumbai under the Mind Body Medicine Department of Global Hospital & Research Centre of Mumbai. Looking at the success of this project in Mumbai & Maharashtra, it was unanimously decided to launch it officially from the international headquarter of Brahmakumaris. So it was launched during the centenary celebrations of Respected RajyoginiDadiJankiji, chief of Brahmakumaris, at Diamond hall of Abu Road in presence of Hon'bleSmt.MrudulaSinha, Governor of Goa and senior brothers & sisters of Brahmakumaris.

So far we have covered more than 75000 students of Mumbai & Thane districts of Maharashtra, giving them awareness about harmful effects of tobacco products and "saying no to tobacco" & yeas to healthy lifestyle choices.

Quitting tobacco is not easy as tobacco dependence is a cluster of behavioural, cognitive and physiological phenomena. Very few tobacco users can successfully quit the habit in their first attempt. But under proper guidance of counsellor & rajayoga meditation which is taught free of cost at all centres of Brahmakumaris one can quit tobacco. For free counselling & expert guidance contact 9892191942.

Tobacco use is among the leading preventable causes of death. Each year, the global tobacco epidemic kills nearly 6 million people, including more than 600,000 who die from exposure to second-hand smoke. Please Invite Us to Lead campaign against tobacco.

Aims & Objectives of GITA

GITA was launched with sole purpose of creating awareness in the youth of the world about the harmful effects of tobacco products. We have realized that youth is the target of the tobacco industry and they are the future of any country. So teaching them life skills & assertive techniques will help them from ill effects of tobacco which are aggressively marketed by these companies. In India COTPA, 2003 mandates tobacco free educational campuses but the implementation of it is a big challenge. So along with educating the students, teaching & nonteaching staff, we are emphasizing on making campuses tobacco free with strict enforcement of COTPA.
